Meeting Macbeth

When we first viewed our stories namesake, he was described as a violent, yet honorable warrior. He had the courage and brutality to slay a prison attendee and mangle the corpse as to set an example for what he was capable of. This however also alludes to his possible aggression in the future. Furthermore, with the introduction of the witches, Macbeth hears the possibility of him becoming king. This both foreshadows a dramatic turn of events without spoiling the dramatic demise of Lord Macbeth's predisesor. Shakespeare adds characterization to Macbeth while simultaneously depicting how tentatively people had to deal with king slayers. He depicted Macbeth as a savage hero who was more tentative than a headstrong barbarian. This shows how Macbeth will grow into a thoughtful charecter after he has been proportion introduced.

Huxleys Brave New World

After reviewing the interview, I think Huxley was intrigued by the potential technology that can strip humans of their individuality. I believe he was envisioning what would happen if the scenarios he described during the interview occurred. Since he was fairly devout to the catholic religion, Huxley must have wanted to create the type of society most contradictory to that belief system. There is where the drugs and sex and disregard for life came from. Also the ideas of overpopulation driving society to communism make the term "everybody belongs to everybody else" quite clear.

Considering the jolly nature of my project, I think it would impossible, yet amazing to talk to Bill Murray. The fact that that man is so famous that this Could potentially happen is astounding. The ability for an individual to do such an innocent thing with no credibility for the one offering the case is astounding. Not to mention the dark humor he displays would probably make me very content, and I would have the ability to be entertaining and pass a story to another generation.

Brave New World ending

The ending of A Brave New World made me sort of think how a macrophage engulfs a foreign body, the members of society mob the "Savage" and assimilate him into their  culture, stripping John of his individuality and therefore, his spirit. How John reacts however, I find to be dramatic and uncalled for. I think Huxley wanted to portray him as a martyr, but to me it seemed he was just a frightened animal looking to repent for a mistake.

My new favorite quote:

I find this very amusing as well as true in all accounts. The i.q. test is a label like many other brands of test, and the scores of said test cannot truly tell an individual what they are capable of.

Learning in Brave New Worlds

For this segment, we generally work independently, we believe each other will have the required reading done, and based on that we were open to answer any questions that have risen. To be honest, more work could have been done, but it is better that we have an experience to unwind and casually go about advancing, rather than wearing ourselves down with strict structure and rigorous guidelines.
